The clearing of cargo at all Bonded Warehouses is facilitated strictly on an appointment basis, a limited number of appointments are offered daily. While it is our desire to strive to deliver cargo on a timely basis, it must be noted that some procedures are outside of our remit.
The Port Authority is the sole agent tasked with the responsibility for container unÂstuffing and providing appointments for the clearing process. At the ONE STOP BARREL SHOP (Shed 10) there has been a serious backlog as we continue into the seasonal peak.
The daily cargo delivery quota instituted has once again been proven to be inadequate to accommodate the increased high volume of non-trade (personal effects) cargo, which automatically increases the customer’s cost.
Customers not being able to take delivery of their cargo immediately after un-stuffing due to unavailability of appointments within the (5) rent free days, this has resulted in port rental charges to consignees. This situation has also severely affected the ongoing process of container un-stuffing due to the lack of space.
We wish to advise that this situation is totally beyond our control, not only is it having a negative effect on our service experience but also unwarranted costs due to lengthy retention of containers at the port. It is anticipated that the situation will worsen over the coming weeks.
We are committed to doing our best, working with the Authority to bring about some relief. As always, we are grateful for your business and look forward to serving you better in the future.
